How do I edit PDF files online? I want to replace some words in a PDF file.
When it comes to working with PDFs, the easiest way is to use a multi-functional app that has all the useful features and tools built in that lets you edit, highlight and annotate, share and sign your PDFs from any device. An app I’d recommend checking out for any kind of PDF work, not just editing, is PDF Reader by Kdan Mobile. One of the best things about this app is how easy it is to use, intuitive interface and all the features offered are actually useful. So, once you have the app downloaded (whatever device or platform you’re using), all you have to do is to open your PDF file and edit it, and after editing, or any other changes you’ve made, you can save it on the cloud of your choice for further editing, viewing and sharing. Other functions of this particular PDF reader include - viewing files (all mainstream formats), highlight, annotate and strikeout text, add stamps such as sign here, approved, confidential, fill in forms and manage all your annotations. You can also sign directly on the screen with your finger or a stylus, and store all signatures in the library for future use.PDF Reader is easy to use, highly functional and the ability to save and access your files from any device through the cloud increases productivity and workflow.Disclaimer: I am part of Kdan’s team and my answers might be a bit biased.
What is the easiest way to edit a PDF?
In my understanding, you want to change original text in PDF, am I right? If your PDF is native file which is searchable and selectable, you can open it with PDFelement on your PC or Mac, and directly edit it under “Edit” mode. (see image below) Edited text would automatically match original font and size.If your PDF is scanned or images, you need to OCR(Optical Character Recognition) first to convert it into searchable and editable file. PDFelement 6 Pro can complete the OCR.Original file:After OCR:After OCR, then you can edit the PDF file directly under “Edit” mode.If you want to edit PDF on you iPhone, you can have PDFelement for iOS. As I know, it is the only free App offering PDF text editing and converting feature in Apple Store. (Please note, iOS version does not include OCR, therefore, you can only edit native PDF file. For scanned PDF, you can only annotate with drawing tool)
Is there an app that turns a photo taken of your handwriting / notes into an editable pdf or text document that you can transfer to the computer and edit? Do you know of anything similar?
tl,dr yes, but this is state of the art tech so startups that do this well are starting to pop up nowHandwriting transcription is actually a very difficult computer vision problem. Most OCRs (Optical Character Recognition) can translate typed pdfs / pages into digital documents , but handwriting is notoriously difficult because there are so many more variations in handwriting than there are in fonts. With recent advances in machine learning (mostly in neural net algorithms + computing power with GPUs), I know a couple of startups that have trained neural nets to do this correctly. Here are some companies that are working on this problem:Evernote - evernote is an all around note-taking app, but they have a feature where you can search through photos of handwritten notes. It doesn’t transcribe the notes into documents, but makes them searchable. Here’s a blog that describes their search functionScribble - app that converts photos of handwritten texts to digital documents. I’m in their private beta and it’s pretty cool stuff. It’s early but so far it’s the only software I’ve seen that does what you’re asking about correctly.website: Scribble Websitedemo:Microsoft OneNote - OneNote has a feature where you can turn handwriting into digital notes. However, it requires you to write on a Surface tablet (or other tablet) with a stylus. I don’t use it because I just want to write in my normal notebook., but some of my friends like it.Here’s a video demo though:
What is the best free non-Adobe Mac OS X app for editing PDF files?
I really like using neu.Annotate+, which allows me not only to read, but take nots on the PDFs and send them directly via email in multiple formats. Note taking includes hand-written mark ups, typing in text, various colored pens and highlighters, and the ability to add images as well.
